Both of our kids had plantar warts, also known as verrucas. They both swim, so we assume they picked them up from the local swimming pool. Read on to find out how to get rid of warts with tea tree oil…
We tried several over-the-counter wart treatments with little if any success. We spent weeks and weeks following the treatment guidelines, but the warts were still there. In fact, these plantar warts were increasing on the kid’s feet. At this stage, we decided to take a trip to the doctors for some expert advice. Our doctor pretty much confirmed that most wart treatments simply don’t work very well. This is mainly because they take months and months to work, and folks simply don’t keep going long enough with the daily routine of applying the cream/gels and filling the top of warts down. As an alternative, our doctor highly recommended trying and using tea tree oil to get rid of warts…
We purchased some tea tree oil from Amazon, we purchased this brand of tea tree oil, as it came with a pipette dropper. The pipette dropper makes it much easier to apply the tea tree oil directly and accurately on warts. For this reason, I highly recommend purchasing a brand of tea tree oil that comes in a bottle with a pipette dropper or perhaps purchasing a pipette dropper separately.
Out doctor said to apply undiluted tea tree oil morning and night. We did and the results were amazing!
In just a few days you could see it was working. After around a week, warts all started turning black and drying out. They then began to shrink a little and you could see the skin around the edges starting to heal, (similar to how the edges around a scabbed wound do). After around two weeks, warts simply started to disappear, with the larger ones actually falling out, leaving a small hole with healthy skin.
How To Get Rid Of Warts With Tea Tree Oil
If you have some warts or verrucas, I highly recommend giving it a go, as tea tree oil is highly effective at getting rid of warts. It is the only thing that worked for us!
Instructions for use
- Firstly, use a wet-wipe or some water and a cotton ball to clean the warts.
- Now use some tissue or a cotton ball to gently dry the warts.
- Next, use a pipette dropper to apply undiluted tea tree oil to the warts (or verrucas), whilst trying to minimise how much tea tree oil you get on the surrounding skin. You will get better at this with practice.
- Gently wipe off any tea tree oil that does get on the surrounding skin.
- Repeat this morning, and before bed at night consistently!
- Keep up this routine for two to three weeks and if you’re anything like us, you’ll be wart free!
Whilst the tea tree oil got rid of plantar warts (verrucas) on our children, tea tree oil should also work on warts on the hands and other places. The virus, human papillomavirus (HPV), that causes warts is exactly the same, regardless of where warts appear on your body.
In my experience, getting undiluted tea tree oil onto the skin surrounding warts doesn’t really cause any major issues. It did not cause any problems on the kid’s feet. That said, we are all different, so it might result in skin irritation for some people, so use with caution.
