The website Made.com sell an identical coffee table (to the one in the photo) made from a reclaimed pallet for £249, which is approximately $400! Sure, it looks nice and the industrial caster wheels are cool, but $400…
I’m here to tell you that with some basic DIY skill and a bit of time, you can make your own reclaimed pallet coffee table just like this for pretty much zero cost, or at most $20 for some varnish and screws etc. The tutorial down below will show you how to build this DIY coffee table, but I would also like to add a few of my own points.
Firstly be sure to get a heat treated pallet and not a chemically treated one, we did a post a while back: How to Make a Better Strawberry Pallet Planter which also explains how to tell if a pallet has been heat treated or chemically treated.
In the tutorial below the pallet is actually purchased (who buys a pallet?) and the caster wheels cost $65. You can get pallets for free and I reckon you can also pick up some caster wheels for next to nothing as well, just go around some local warehouses/depots and ask if they have any broken trolleys that you recycle the wheels from. I used to work in a large warehouse and we always had broken depot style trolleys dumped around the back. Ask around, I am sure you could pick some up for free.
