Everyone should have a go at making some country wine at home. A country wine is a wine made from fruit, flowers or herbs (or a combination). You can try pretty much any fruit, wild or homegrown, but a bit of caution is required when making flower wines, as not all flowers are appropriate and some may even be poisonous.
The great thing about country wines is you can gather the ingredients for free. Some of the best wines are made from fruits/flowers (and honey wine AKA mead) that you can forage for and gather for free. I’m thinking elderflower wine, blackberry wine and dandelion wine. If I have tickled your fancy and you’d like to know more about making your own country wines, head over to ‘Lovely Greens’ on the link below and check out their country wine making tutorial. It includes two recipes, one for rose petal wine and another for strawberry wine.
