A small survival tin is a great idea. Due to its size it can easily be kept in your car or with you in your bag. A survival tin is a great addition to a larger survival bag or pack. Larger packs are obviously better as they contain more kit, but the problem is, you have to plan to take them with you.  A small survival tin can can always be there with you, which means it is more likely to be there when you need it.

As you can see from this infographic, it’s surprising just how much useful stuff you can fit in a small mint tin or similar…

I love the optimism of including fishing tackle in survival kits. It’s hard enough to catch a fish with all the proper gear, power bait and a hot thermos of coffee much less in a survival situation.

I agree Travis. What really gets me is the fact that I’m allergic to fish. So i guess I’ll just starve.

Your griping about whats in the kit without thinking.. Fishing line and hooks can be used to bait a line for things such as squirrels, turkeys and etc. It does not have to be for fishing alone. Though in my kits I carry 4 steel fishing leaders. Survival is about thinking, not getting emotional.
