How To Make A Solid Fuel Tuna Can Stove

Check out our awesome Facebook page and stay up to date with what's new!

This is a great idea from minimalistsurvival, that I have not seen it before…

It involves a candle like principle and requires only a tuna can, some cardboard and some candle wax. Optionally you can fashion a little stove pot holder from some chicken wire.

Apparently this stove will burn for around two hours. It’s not really a serious survival stove, but it’s a fun little project and it would be fine for a night or two light weight camping/hiking. Watch the video and let me know what you think.  Also, head over to minimalistsurvival’s YouTube channel for some more great videos

My husband has been doing this kind of thing for years. We never thought to use the chicken wire like that though, nice addition. You can make small fire starters pretty much the same way by using an empty tea candle tin some dryer lint and old wax. Just remember to leave some of the lint sticking up out of the wax to use as a wick.

The delseown side of this is the carbon that comes off the candle/cardboard mix.. last winter when my colman stove went out i had already made some of these up and had forgotten how much soot is created. I have been making these since i was a kid along with the stove made via a juice can. They work good when in a pinch but if youre not in a survival situation youre better off using something
